Essentially, a pescatarian diet is vegetarian + seafood. The term β€œpescatarian” is the combination of the Italian word for fish, β€œpesce,” and the word β€œvegetarian.”

According to healthline.com, a recent study concluded that pescatarians had a lower risk of developing diabetes at 4.8%, compared to omnivores at 7.6%. The same website suggested that one large study looked at people who ate meat rarely or were pescatarians and found that they had a 22% lower risk of dying from heart disease compared to regular meat-eaters!Β
